Liverpool Secure Deal for Bournemouth’s Milos Kerkez
Liverpool have reportedly finalized an agreement to sign Bournemouth left-back Milos Kerkez in a deal worth approximately £40 million ($54 million). The 21-year-old is expected to travel to Merseyside for a medical assessment before completing his transfer to the Premier League champions.
Kerkez caught Liverpool’s attention last season, showcasing his talent for Bournemouth with two goals and five assists in 38 Premier League appearances.
Richard Hughes, Liverpool’s sporting director, played a key role in bringing Kerkez to Bournemouth from AZ Alkmaar during his tenure at the club. The Serbian-born player started his career at Hungarian team Gyor before moving to AC Milan, where he did not make any appearances. He joined AZ Alkmaar in 2022 and made his way to the Premier League with Bournemouth a year later.
The impending arrival of Kerkez at Anfield raises questions about the future of Liverpool’s current left-back Andrew Robertson, who has been rumored to be linked with Atletico Madrid. His signing will add to Liverpool’s busy summer transfer window under manager Arne Slot.
In addition to Kerkez, the Reds have already secured Netherlands right-back Jeremie Frimpong from Bayer Leverkusen to replace Trent Alexander-Arnold, who has moved to Real Madrid. Liverpool is also nearing an agreement to sign German playmaker Florian Wirtz from Leverkusen, with reports suggesting a fee that could rise to a British record of £116 million. Wirtz is believed to have undergone a medical with Liverpool on Friday, setting the stage for the official confirmation of his transfer.
Dangote Petroleum Refinery has, on Thursday, slashed the product price of its Premium Motor Spirit, popularly called petrol, to N900 per litre and named it “Holy Bonanza.”
This is the second time the 650,000 barrel-per-day refinery would slash its wholesale price after it had cut its price some weeks ago from N990 per litre to N970.
This also hopes to cut its current price to that of the imported PMS for which the Africa’s richest man was blamed.
Anthony Chiejina, the Group Chief, Branding and Communications Officer, Dangote Group, said, in a statement that the reduction will give Nigerians an opportunity to enjoy more this festive season.
He explained that marketers will henceforth sell the product at N 899.50 per litre, saying the reduction represents a palliative measure in cushioning the unbearable cost of transportation during the Yuletide.
Moreover, Dangote indicated that consumers have the option to acquire an extra litre of fuel on credit for each litre purchased with cash.
“To help offset some of these transportation costs during this festive period, Dangote Refinery wishes to announce a holiday discount on PMS. To this effect, our petrol will be sold at N899.50 per litre at our truck loading gantry or SPM, effective today.
Furthermore, for every litre bought on cash payment, customers would have the opportunity to buy another litre on credit, with a bank guarantee from Access Bank, First Bank, or Zenith Bank,” Chiejina said.
He said: “The refinery is committed to ensuring that Nigerians get good quality petroleum products that are affordable, yet friendly to the environment and appropriate for use in their engines.
